I use photography’s primary and most powerful tool, its ability to capture and preserve an ephemeral moment forever in time. I attempt to use photography as both: an unplanned documentation of reality and as a beauty in its most purest and simplest form. I utilize a traditional journalistic approach to capture the candid moment-to-moment interactions between different people. I am also interested in depicting the interactions between a knowing subject and my camera. “The decisive moment” for me consists of synergetic process of capturing people’s truest emotional responses to their social situations coupled with a perfect synthesis between content and form. I consider a photograph a success when it is able to both reveal the true spirit of a person at that moment and technically and formally is strong and compelling to look at.
Being guided by a sense of wonder and mystery I try to perceive the world from as many different perspectives and ‘lenses’ as possible in order to most accurately represent the people I’m portraying. Being greatly inspired by the everyday beauty that surrounds us, I constantly look for and explore unique, spontaneous, and authentic flashes of true expressions, and human interaction between people of different generations, looks, and in diverse cultural settings such as bars, venues, apartments, streets, etc.
